History:

TC series 7900-7999 were built by Pullman-Standard in April 1941. The cars incorporated what some freight car historians refer to as the "PS-0" type of ends.

In 1958, TC sold 65 of the cars to U.S. Railway Equipment Leasing and leased the cars back as nos. 500-564. USRE refurbished the cars by reinforcing the side sills, adding strengthening gussets at the doors, and apparently modifying or replacing the roofs.

A few of the 7900-series cars were used in passenger service and were equipped with steam and signal lines.

At bankruptcy in 1968, 7901 and 7910 were acquired by L&N. 7901 was renumbered to L&N 41354 and 7910 to L&N 41355. L&N assigned these cars to company material service and painted them boxcar red with 36" "L&N" lettering. Later L&N painted them in the gray & yellow scheme to group them with other company material service boxcars of various origins.
